Recently, one of my AC units stopped working. Max accessed the unit, determined the problem, ordered the necessary part and had repaired within 24 hours. His kindness and expertise are reasons I can depend on Garner AC & Heating. I highly recommend their company!
On arrival the homeowner informed me he had a company add refrigerant to his system last week. He asked me to check everything out and verify if there is indeed a leak. I looked over the system and performed a leak search. I did see some oil residue on the primary pan but was unable to pinpoint a leak. I did also find the outdoor capacitor is below value on the herm side. I informed the home owner of my finding and presented repair options. He agreed to have the outdoor capacitor replaced and sign up on our maintenance plan so we could monitor the system during our visits. I replaced the capacitor and cycled power at the thermostat. No other major issues were found and the system is operational at this time.
HVAC System Repairs: Corrected frequent short cycling by adjusting thermostat anticipator settings, replacing clogged filters, and verifying blower motor operation. These adjustments improved temperature regulation and reduced strain on the compressor.
Summertime Air Conditioning Tune-Up: Cleaned outdoor condenser fins to improve airflow, checked system refrigerant pressures, flushed the drain line, and tightened all electrical connections to ensure peak cooling efficiency during hot weather.
HVAC System Repairs: Replaced a failing start capacitor that was causing delayed compressor startups. After replacement, tested system amperage draw and confirmed consistent and reliable operation with smoother cycling.
AC cool check completed on one horizontal Carrier heat pump. Drain line was flushed and treated. Condenser coils were cleaned. Found all mechanical and electrical components within manufacturer specifications. No major issues were found. The system is cooling properly at time of departure.
Air Conditioning System Repairs: Replaced a malfunctioning defrost control board in the heat pump unit, correcting erratic defrost cycles that were impacting cooling and energy use. Verified system behavior post-repair for reliable seasonal operation.
Summertime Air Conditioning Tune-Up: Conducted a full summer prep service including cleaning condenser fins, checking refrigerant charge, testing system pressures, and tightening all electrical connections to prevent mid-season breakdowns.
Whole Home Generator Installation: Installed a standby whole-home generator with an automatic transfer switch, ensuring uninterrupted power to HVAC, lighting, and essential appliances during outages. Conducted a full systems test to confirm seamless operation.
HVAC System Repairs: Diagnosed startup failure caused by a faulty start capacitor. Replaced the capacitor and tested system operation to confirm smooth startup cycles and reliable functionality across all modes.
Air Conditioning Installation: Installed a new high-efficiency Lennox AC system, complete with properly sized duct connections and a digital thermostat upgrade. Ensured optimized airflow and cooling capacity tailored to the home's layout for maximum comfort and energy savings.
Performed diagnostic on the main system. I found the outdoor fan motor had failed. This was causing the compressor to shutoff on thermal lockout. I also found the outdoor starter was pitted at the contacts. I spoke with Mr. Driscoll and he chose to have the motor and starter replaced. I replaced both components and cycled power at the thermostat. I also washed both outdoor coils and secured the compressor wiring on both systems. Both systems are operational at this time.
Installed new TXV on the heat pump condenser. Installed new liquid line filter drier inside the condenser. Cleared primary drain with CO2 and primed trap with water. Pressure tested system with nitrogen and pulled vacuum. Weighed in factory charge of R-410A and added additional charge to reach subcooling per charging chart. Tested operation of system. Everything is working at completion of service.
Smart Thermostat Installation: Installed a smart thermostat, allowing for remote temperature control and energy-efficient scheduling. This upgrade enhanced system performance, reduced utility costs, and offered greater convenience for the homeowner.
Removed old supply plenums. Built and installed new supply plenums, sealed all connections with mastic and hard cast. Reinstalled all duct connections with new metal collars and sealed with mastic. Completed dryer vent cleaning. Climbed up on roof and cleaned damper and roof cap. Cleared drains on both systems. Everything is working at completion of service.
Upsized ducting into the bedrooms and upsized the buckets. Installed returns in both rooms with filters. Removed metal WYEs and made ducts into home runs. Installed new registers. Sealed all connections with mastic. Tested static. Everything is operating as it should at completion of service.
